Elective placements are available for 2012 and 2013 in Santiago de Cuba.

Cuba Medical Electives is a programme run by Cuba Medical Link, a registered charity under the law of England and Wales. Since 2009 we have enabled more than 100 medical students to go to Cuba for their elective. I am a GP with a particular interest in health care in Cuba. I know the doctors and administrators in medical teaching institutes which can provide educational programmes suitable for medical electives and are keen to welcome overseas students.
My interest in bringing these opportunities to your attention is to promote links between the UK and Cuban medical communities which I believe can provide great benefits to both. Though I have designed the site to address the needs of UK students, the same opportunities exist for students of other nations. While I try my best to provide accurate and up-to-date information, I cannot be responsible for any errors. All prices given are for general guidance only as they are approximate and subject to change.
A medical elective in Cuba is expensive. Regrettably, the Cuban government has recently doubled tuition fees and also introduced a costly system of validating the documents required by the faculties. For those who can afford it, an elective in Cuba remains a very worthwhile experience.
